Giving a Gift to God?

Have you ever thought of giving a gift to God?  Annalee Skarin (American mystic and author) and her husband Reason made a  tradition of giving a gift to God each Christmas.  One year it was the discipline of harboring thoughts of the highest caliber, seeking to have each thought of love and faith and peace and gratitude.   Another year, it was the gift of giving thanks and praise all the time, under all circumstances.  Another year it was to attempt to have their attention “single to the glory of God with the gift of humility”.  She admitted it was difficult and for some of the above gifts, and it took her a few years to perfect them.

What effect would it have on our lives if we gave similar gifts?  What if each one of us asked for inspiration of what we could offer to God for this new year?  In looking at my life, I can see a multitude of things I would like to give, as there are so many spiritual qualities that I do not exhibit much of the time.  So after much self-examination, I decided I wanted to give up my thoughts of fear, and especially around financial problems of my loved ones.  And I wanted to give up my judgement thoughts about what was happening in the world.  I wanted to replace those negative thoughts with trust, confidence that God was in control, peace, love, and gratitude.  So I sat down and addressed my best friend, Jesus, and asked his assistance to remind me whenever those negative thoughts came, to replace them instantly with their opposites, and fill my heart and mind with gratitude and praise.  My gift to God, then, is giving my best attempt to have more loving, trusting, faith-filled thoughts than I have ever had previously.

Well, it wasn’t more than an hour after this committment, that I found myself worrying over a financial situaltion of a relative.  So I just yelled “Help me!” and began to say, “Thank you, thank you, thank you”.  Soon I was back on track.  I was reminded of the key to making this easy…Just focus on gratitude as a continual feeling.  I liken it to the purring of a cat.  It becomes so much easier when I am saying continually in my head,  “Thank you, thank you, thank you, dear God”.

I notice that after doing this for about 30 minutes, the phrase and feeling take over, and I no longer have to give it my effort and mental discipline to keep it going.  I also noticed that if I could have this gratitude feeling  going  most of the day, I was stress-free and synchronistic events would happen.   Oh, I almost forgot…If you want to try this yourself, don’t be concerned if the feeling isn’t there.  Just the words are powerful and will soon bring on the feeling.

Gratitude Generates Increased Life Force

Last night I was contemplating how people who “die” view their body from a detached place.  Usually it is from above, as they observe the doctors performing emergency measures.  In Betty Eadie’s case (author of Embraced By the Light), she rose above her body and observed it objectively, then left immediately, seemingly unconcerned for her earthly habitation.  In thinking about how we usually think as our body as “us”, I realized that it is not “us”.  It is only a place of habitation for a period of time.  Like a house we live in.

Immediately I began to experience a sense of my Spirit that lives in my body, and for the first time, I felt the reality of it and the secondary importance of my body.   I was driving at the time, and looked at my arms and hands holding the steering wheel.  I “saw” with an inner vision energy swirling around in each arm.  I began to notice a vibration.  I thought, “What would happen if I focused on gratitude as strong as I could?” As I focused on that feeling, giving thanks to God for all I could think of,  I experienced the vibration increasing and could sense the molecules increasing their speed of movement.   ‘This must be the Life Force that I have read about”, I thought.  I began to experiment more, and as I deliberately stopped my focus on gratitude, the energy and vibration ceased (to my perception).

I was reminded of an experience that Angela Morgan detailed in “Behold the Angel”.  She described experiences she had as she contemplated the spirit within her.  She was shown how this spirit is Light, the same light that the Jesus talks about as residing in each one of us. “Let your light shine before men, that others, seeing your good works will glorify God, which is in Heaven”, and again, “The kingdom of heaven is Within You.

She was awoken several nights and her attention was drawn to a light, and she realized the light was coming from her arms and fingers.  She saw with her physical eyes her arms and hands glowing with a soft light.  The light was actually extending beyond her body outline.

This energy, as light and vibration can be measured on scientific instruments.  Quantum physics  is now proving the reality of this life force.  They are finding that emotion actually increases the movement of this energy in the body.  In fact, every feeling we have either increases this life force, or decreases it, leading to greater health, or lessened vitality which contibutes to ill health.

Dr. Candice Pert, explained this more fully in “Molecules of Emotion”, a facinating book that shows how each feeling actually creates molecules that have an immediate effect on our bodies.  This is an amazing time, when quantum physics is proving the existence of spirit, and how it is increased by positive feelings such as love and gratitude.

Getting back to my experience, it was brief but left me with the lingering knowing and feeling that I am first spirit, and that spirit is nourished and increased in movement and activity as I focus on love, gratitude and joy.  The Bible is a manual for health, if one can see the value of its suggestions–”Rejoice evermore, pray with out ceasing, in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God, in Christ Jesus concerning you”.
